Flashmap Debuts 1st Intuitive Enterprise Architecture Tool;
Global Clients Quantify Savings, Best IT Practices for Corporate Governance;
'Competitive Plays of New EA Hosting is 5 Years Late, Misses Big Picture'

Newton, MA (September 19, 2006) - Incorporating some two dozen upgrades inspired by installations at the world's leading corporations, and disparaging recent competitive claims of 'first' enterprise architecture (EA) hosting capabilities, Flashmap Systems Inc. today announced the newest version of an information technology communications tool, ITatlas (TM). The powerful update includes substantial new capabilities over its forerunner graphical EA tool, FlashAtlas (R), deployed globally for more than five years in both hosted and on-site license models.

"Flashmap customers see the spate of recent hosting announcements for enterprise architecture tools in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environment as missing the big picture," said Jeff Tash, CEO and founder of Flashmap Systems (R). "That news in itself is five years behind the times to the many Flashmap customers on our predecessor product who have been there and done that--for years. Today's corporate giants instead are demanding the kind of features offered in ITatlas that help them to streamline IT governance, compliance and cost reduction initiatives."

ITatlas: Demystifying IT Data for Wide-Scale Use, Cost Cutting
Flashmap's key - and powerful -- competitive differentiator is that its solutions extend the reach of a company's technology organization to multiple people and functional departments within the corporation. Its highly intuitive and graphical interface can be used with zero training by anyone within the company.

This ability to communicate key technology initiatives and related purchase/maintenance information can have a major impact on the bottom line. ITatlas offers a huge opportunity for savings with new corporate governance initiatives and an even wider swath of control towards achieving corporate compliance mandates. Mistakes made from duplicate, incompatible and/or non-useful technology purchases deteriorate corporate margins, provide zero net value and waste valuable IT installation and maintenance resources. Conversely, ITatlas' simplified extension of IT information repositories to decentralized functional users is yielding hundreds of thousands of dollars in corporate savings.

One Fortune 200 industry giant, a $12 billion leader in transportation and environmental services, easily quantified staggering savings via the use of Flashmap Solutions. "We have 125 applications in our portfolio and a technology infrastructure in the tens of millions of dollars. It's no stretch to say that we can associate a soft cost easily of half a million dollars in productivity gains, and avoidance of missteps..."

New ITatlas Features and Enhancements
ITatlas can be used by consulting groups and/or companies that have their own frameworks, and can incorporate any standard EA frameworks, including Flashmap System's own taxonomies. ITatlas does not use proprietary modeling tools or software, and can link to other repositories and databases. There are more than 20 updates to the forerunner FlashAtlas solution, including the following: -- Completely redesigned IT administrative environment that is interactive, intuitive and granular in its ability to drill down to any level of ITatlas data;

  • User's ability to filter and group a wide array of information content, creating a personalized user experience;
  • One-click maintenance allowing users with the appropriate permission to easily modify content;
  • Self-service data import/export capabilities providing an easy method for moving large volumes of data in or out of the ITatlas environment;
  • Easy customization to conform to corporate identity standards and web-site branding.

"The key to achieving a return on investment in enterprise architecture and to meeting new IT governance initiatives is to standardize, consolidate and communicate," Flashmap's Tash said. "Standards lower costs, shorten cycles and reduce staffing. Consolidating makes operations more efficient, interoperable and secure. Extending communications, through tools like ITatlas, improves collaboration, allowing IT organizations to do much more and have a far greater reach -- even with fewer resources. This integration allows the corporation to move its technology initiatives, more effectively, in lockstep."
